International Organizations
SUMMERY
After a brief introductory discussion of the history, common characteristics, and problems of international organizations in general, the seminar will focus on the United Nations and its human rights and economic programs.

OVERVIEW

The role of ESOSOC, UNDP, UNlDO, UNCDF, and UNCTAD will be analyzed, as well as the role of the U.N. General Assembly in fostering the New Economic Order. In addition, the structure and functions of other global institutions, such as the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD), the International Monetary Fund, the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT), and the International Labor Organization will be discussed.
